Mission: The Manitoba League of Persons with Disabilities is a united voice of people with disabilities, and their supporters, that promotes equal rights, full participation in society, and facilitates positive change through advocacy and public education.

The Manitoba League of Persons with Disabilities (MLPD) is a provincial not-for-profit organization that promotes accessibility and inclusion for people of all abilities.

We are a group of experienced, diverse, influential and engaging staff and volunteers who educate and offer expert advice in a wide range of topics and issues relating to accessibility.

MLPD works locally, provincially and nationally by contributing to other community initiatives and organizations like the Council for Canadians with Disabilities (CCD).

MLPD is dedicated to making a fully accessible province where all people, no matter ability, are provided the same rights and freedoms.

MLPD is seeking individuals from across the province to serve on our Council (Board of Directors).  Council members will support our mission to promote accessibility and inclusion for people of all abilities.

We are looking for people who are passionate about disabilities and bring knowledge and/or skills in one or more areas of board governance, business related skills, legal skills, or accessibility knowledge and the ability to work within the community for building partnerships and relations.

Board members will be appointed by the current council to serve until the next AGM in June of 2019, and are expected:

  • to participate in Board meetings (usually held monthly by conference call with approximately three in-person meeting yearly);
  • must be member in good standing of MLPD (please see the membership form Membership Form 2018 );
  • lived experience with a disability is an asset.
