We are here to serve our community of people with disabilities, and to support the wider community in making Manitoba more accessible and inclusive. Our talented and experienced staff and volunteers educate and offer expert advice and guidance on a wide range of topics and issues relating to accessibility.

We are here to support our community and help to remove barriers people experience, whether or not they identify as having a disability. Some people we work with might not identify as having a disability. It’s important to remember that disability as an identity has a cultural context and history – it was imposed on people in colonial-capitalist ways, and not equally. For some Indigenous people in our community, the preferred term and understanding is that of Gifts, not disability. Preferred terms and understandings will vary so it is important to ask people how they prefer to identify.

Manitoba League of Persons with Disabilities acknowledges the work we do to support Manitobans with disabilities and gifts takes place on the traditional lands and waterways of the Anishinaabeg, Cree, Oji Cree, Dakota, and Dene Peoples as well as the homeland of the Metis Nation.
