Overview
The MLPD is seeking a dynamic and strategic Executive Director to lead our organization towards sustained growth and excellence. The ideal candidate will be a dedicated advocate for accessibility and disability justice. This role offers an exciting opportunity to influence our mission, oversee operational functions, and drive innovative initiatives that align with our core values and long-term objectives. The Executive Director will serve as the primary representative of MLPD, ensuring effective governance, financial stability, and impactful community engagement.
Duties
- Provide strategic leadership by developing and implementing organizational goals, policies, and programs that support mission fulfillment.
- Oversee daily operations, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and quality standards across all departments.
- Lead business development efforts to expand partnerships, funding sources, and service offerings.
- Manage organizational budgets, financial planning, and resource allocation to ensure fiscal responsibility.
- Foster a positive organizational culture through effective leadership, staff development, and team-building initiatives.
- Negotiate contracts, partnerships, and stakeholder agreements to advance organizational objectives.
- Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance operational effectiveness and service delivery.
- Represent the organization at community events, industry conferences, and public forums to promote visibility and advocacy efforts.
- Oversee project management activities to ensure timely execution of strategic initiatives.
- Cultivate relationships with board members, donors, government agencies, and community partners for ongoing support and collaboration.
Qualifications
- Proven leadership experience in a senior management or executive role within a nonprofit or related sector.
- Track record of securing partnerships and funding opportunities.
- Excellent business development capabilities with strategic planning experience.
- Proficiency in project management with the ability to oversee multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Exceptional communication skills—both verbal and written—with the ability to inspire teams and engage stakeholders effectively.
- Experience in financial management, governance practices, and compliance regulations is highly desirable.
Education
Recognizing the educational disparity faced by persons with disabilities, the council values experience over education. However, post-secondary education in non-profit management, business management, and the social sciences, such as disability studies, social justice, human rights, sociology, etc., is considered an asset.
Additional Details
Because the ED will handle sensitive information, candidates are required to provide a police information check that is valid within six (6) months. A criminal record does not automatically disqualify candidates from employment. The MLPD Council will evaluate the nature of any offence and the time elapsed in light of our values, bylaws, and fiduciary duty.
