Who are we?

The MLPD Provincial Council is a dedicated group of volunteers with unique reasons for offering our time and expertise. We are engaged advocates and allies who oversee and guide the strategic direction of the Manitoba League of Persons with Disabilities. MLPD is a historic Manitoba not-for-profit organization promoting accessibility and inclusion for people of all abilities. Its diverse team of experienced and knowledgeable professionals provides education and expert advice on a wide range of topics and issues relating to accessibility throughout Manitoba.

Who are we looking for?

The Volunteer Treasurer plays a crucial role in managing the organization’s financial accounts in accordance with its governing documents and legal requirements. They work closely with the Executive Director to create and manage operational budgets, utilizing their expertise to ensure that all financial decisions align with the organization’s goals and objectives. In addition to managing finances, they also serve as a trusted advisor and signing authority for the Provincial Council, acting with integrity and ethics in all financial matters. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Lead and coordinate MLPD’s yearly tax preparation and financial audit process, ensuring that all financial transactions are accurately recorded and reported.
  • Prepares monthly and annual financial reports that provide a clear and concise overview of the organization’s finances.
  • Foster a supportive and collaborative working relationship with the Executive Director and Council, providing guidance and advice on financial matters and ensuring that all financial decisions align with the organization’s goals and objectives.
  • Attends Provincial Council meetings on the first Thursday of each month and Executive Provincial Council meetings on the last Thursday of each month consistently.
